Ovulation disorders constitute to 25% of all infertility cases. This can cause irregular ovulation or the absence of ovulation which is called anovulation. Based on this, we can say that ovarian stimulation is the most important medical approach to all infertility cases. Fertility specialists apply different types of medical agents according to different protocols.

Ovulation

Healthy women of reproductive age typically ovulate one egg per menstrual cycle, approximately every 28 days. During ovulation, a mature egg is released from the ovary, captured by the fimbriae of the fallopian tube, and transported through peristaltic movements. If sperm is present at the right time, fertilization can occur.

Infertility requires a thorough evaluation to determine the underlying cause. In cases where infertility is solely due to ovulation issues, ovarian stimulation and timed intercourse may be effective solutions. However, there should be no male factor infertility, and the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes must be anatomically normal, which can be confirmed through a hysterosalpingography (HSG). Additionally, the ovarian reserve must be sufficient to support successful conception.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) cases with no uterine or tubal pathology are the most suitable cases that can be conceived with only ovarian stimulation and timed intercourse.

The Basics of Ovarian Stimulation

Our clinical experts design personalized treatment protocols for each patient, aiming to maximize the number of retrieved oocytes while minimizing the risk of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS). The medical approach and drug dosages are carefully tailored based on each patient’s unique medical profile to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Recognizing that every patient responds differently to treatment, we provide close monitoring throughout the ovarian stimulation process. Regular transvaginal ultrasounds and hormonal tests allow our specialists to track progress and make necessary adjustments, ensuring a safe and successful path to pregnancy.
