Gender Selection
Today’s technology and resources allow couples to determine the gender of their unborn child. Gender identification has created a dispute in Western societies. In Canada, USA and Northern Cyprus, this process is carried out legally. The procedure is done to aid with family balancing.
The process begins with a preliminary consultation. Tests and evaluations will determine the correct treatment plan to be provided. An ultrasound is performed to identify structural disorders, myomas, or polyps in the uterus. This very important scan should be done between 14-26 days from the beginning of menstruation. Ultrasounds done immediately after menstruation may not give accurate results.
Endometrial lining measurements, egg reserve calculations, and the HSG (hysterosalpingogrophy) scan are amongst these very important evaluations. HSG (hysterosalpingogrophy) scan results carry importance wherever you have had children prior to treatment or not. This service is also provided in our clinic.
Patients must also take into account that the sperm provider plays a huge role in this process. Therefore, blood tests and a semen sample is mandatory before the treatment commences. In some cases, the couple may be asked to undergo a more extensive search to rule out chromosomal defects. The results may take 30-40 days to reach us.
After the preparations, egg retrieval and sperm collection follow, to obtain the embryos that will be tested. The sex is determined by a biopsy done on the resulting embryo by removing a cell. The gender determination process guarantees the sex by 99%.
The expectant mother will be prepared for an embryo transfer once the desired gender has been obtained.
